What is Media MIND-ED?

MEDIA MIND-ED is a learning community serving today’s K-12 educators to be better prepared to guide and inspire their students through the multiliteracies that involve understanding and creating images, words, information, data and technologies.

Being a Media MindED educator allows you to communicate and engage your students in ways that prioritize media integration into your practice.

OUR PURPOSE

is to focus on helping K-12 teachers who are particularly underserved in terms of professional learning and training where media and digital literacies are concerned and why they are critical skills for every educator in the 21st century.

The language our students and children speak incorporates their repertoire of digital languages from disparate devices and the content they engage with; yet many of us are not treating that literacy as the additional language that it is. Rather, most schools and districts still treat media as an extracurricular activity.  Our students are digital natives; they are “translanguaging.” The majority of teachers are not.

WHAT WE DO

Through in-person and online programs, curricula and resources, MEDIA MIND-ED provides educators the space and expertise to learn about, share and bolster their media, news and digital literacies in order to better prepare their students for lives as active citizens and communicators.

GONE ARE THE DAYS WHEN STUDENTS JUST NEED THE 3Rs TO BE COLLEGE AND LIFE READY.

BUT ARE YOU READY TO TEACH THEM?
